I wouldn't worry too much about it. As a Navy brat from a family of American Naval officers, NCIS is the equivalent of high happy-ending fantasy anyway for us and we enjoy it because it's perfect world stuff, really.

Almost nothing on the goes as smoothly as it does in real life and they pretty much find nice excuses to bring the whole team along to lots of improbable places.

I'm sure that if it happened in London and the Navy guy was just there or indeed, stationed in London (@ 9 North Audley Place) our SOFA (status of forces agreement) would allow NCIS to take over at least the investigation bit that involved that guy, so you're not too far off the RL mark, actually, LOL.

Plus, the Met allow Sherlock a great deal of not very realistic leeway in the show, anyway.

Poli-Sci class coming in handy, FTW, yay!
