Oh, this is so adorable! I can just see Martin hurt and ruffled over being called boring, deciding once and for all to makeover his personality, and then getting an apology the next day and changing his mind. It's just Martin through and through:
It was actually kinda fun, wearing odd socks. Like a secret way of not being boring. He even tried to do it on a flight but something felt so… weird, wearing his captain’s uniform perfectly with a white and black sock. It felt like disrespect and Martin made sure he never wore his odd socks with the captain’s uniform.
Lol! Very nice addendum. Because Martin isn't a stickler for the rules just for the sake of...stickling ;). Amongst many other possible, complex psychological reasons is his stratospheric regard for this position.
And I love that he's just plain not going to think about what it means that Douglas calling him boring would hurt more than his brother doing so - because that leaves room for so many different interpretations XD His conversation with Douglas toward the end, and then the smile, were a beautiful wrap-up.
