Once again, you make things difficult for me. *dramatic sigh* I need to leave you feedback, but all I want to do is flail around, reread this again, and flail around some more, and then repeat. The sheer amount of squeeage inside me is at war with the whole concept of composing a proper reply. *shakes head sadly* You see my dilemma? ;-P
Seriously, I love this. It's wonderful. I love how you develop the relationship between Lestrade and John, and how you should Sherlock's care - and even Donovan's - for them both.
I love Lestrade's no-nonsense description of Sherlock running off before sharing with "the rest of the class." I love John calling Lestrade "G" until he's lucid enough for proper introductions. I love John's stolid defense of Lestrade, and Lestrade worrying about John even when he's clearly the worse off of the two. I loved Sherlock stripping, giving his jacket to Donovan for Lestrade and his coat to John, and later demanding that they won't go to coffee alone. Great nod to canon with the horse, as well.
What really got me was John's horror at the thought of being unable to save Lestrade, while all the time Greg's trying to reassure John that it's all right, that he's not worth dying for. Greg's fierce devotion to duty (protect John at all costs, as the civilian in his charge) and his calm acceptance of what looks to be his pending death were wonderful.
So, so good. Thank you. *hugs you and dances you away*
