Sherlock is caught off guard. “Because you gave it to me?” he asks, unsure of the correct answer. His unsureness of social cues makes him ADORABLE in this - the fact that he held onto something most people probably wouldn't, just because he didn't really know better, maybe even felt some sentimental value for it. I just love it.
Sherlock feels like someone has kicked the world out from under him, I love this imagery.
